Coming Home

They are on the way down. They did not get a break in the weather to go to the summit, and the wind continues to blow on the big mountain. I'm sure they are all disappointed to have to come down without reaching the summit, but they gave it a good shot and should feel good about the effort they put in. They could be in basecamp as soon as this afternoon, and will fly out to Talkeetna as soon as the weather cooperates. This is the unfortunate reality of climbing a big mountain like Denali, success is never a given. You can put in your best efforts, and still the weather conditions can keep you off of the summit.

They are Still at 17,000

The team has been waiting for the weather to give them a shot at the summit. They are tucked in at High Camp watching the wind and snow over the last few days. They hope to get a shot at the summit tommorow, it has cleared this evening, and the forecast is decent, so keep your fingers crossed. Send all of your good weather vibes to Denali for tommorow. We'll let you know if we hear anything new.

Waiting...

They are at high camp and are waiting to go for the summit. They still haven't called so they must have left the phone down at 14,000, or it isn't working. Not a big suprise to have some difficulty communicating, but they are still in daily contact with the other groups on the mountain via radio. We'll let you know as soon as we have some fun details, but I expect that they will be summiting any day now.
